We are now nearing the middle of November and still waiting for our NOC approval. Praying that we will receive it any-day! I just celebrated my 40th birthday and maybe through that it has caused me to reflect more. :) Joseph and my close girlfriends threw me an amazing surprise 40th party and I feel so blessed by the friends and family the Lord has given to me. In the midst of it all a piece of my heart is in India and I must think about our little girl almost every hour of each day. As I have been reading my devotional #shereadstruth I spent time reading the story of Elizabeth this past week. How the Lord promised a child to Elizabeth and her husband, Zechariah, in their old age even when it seemed impossible.
"But you know what? Nothing is impossible with God. The key to this story is that last little phrase. Did you see it? WITH GOD. The story was never about Elizabeth and her ability to have a baby, and it is not about her ability to raise the baby. It was and has always been about God's plan, God's goodness, God's limitless power...The Point is always God. He is the one who gives good gifts." #shereadstruth
This encouraged and challenged my heart these past couple weeks. Because I knew the Lord was reminding me.... This Story isn't about Me. This Story isn't about if we are able to give our little girl from around the world everything she needs, we can never replace her biological mother, we can never fully be the ones to heal her little heart of what she has been through. If we are able to help her fully overcome her fears, If we can do enough to help her learn to speak fluently. If we can handle all the changes that will soon come our way. This Story is about God.
His weaving of His story that we are blessed to be a part of by following His call on our lives. By hearing His voice ask us to be willing to adopt a child who is an orphan. By giving so much of our time, finances, emotions into an adoption journey that has taken over 5 years. By having trust in His perfect ways and timing as we experienced Ethiopia close and we waited upon Him to lead us where to next. On listening and obeying Him moving in our hearts to India and being open to special needs. This AMAZING adventure the Lord has led us on as we sought Him, waited upon Him, listened to His voice above all else and reasoning...Leading us to His perfect story He has written. Leading us to the blessing of our little girl in India!
So, as I experience fears of the future, anxious thoughts of how much our family of 5 will change, worry if I can be the mom that can love her with patience, care and wisdom that she needs, fear that our love will not be enough - I CLING TO THE LORD'S PROMISES that our lives are His story and as we continue to be faithful to follow Him He will guide us and give us everything we need to thrive in His Perfect story. The ultimate story is to glorify the Lord and He will use us to write that story with our lives. It always has been about God's story, God's goodness and His power working through and in our family that is enough.
So what are the next steps?
We are continuing to trust and wait for our final approval papers. Then we receive a court affidative to sign and return.... then we wait for our court date and fly to India! We are praying and hoping we will be able to travel the beginning of 2016 before March - but it all depends on court systems and paperwork.
We are continuing to set up Jessica's room to share with her new sister.... improving in our ASL from weekly classes we take...re-reading adoption books that I read 4 years ago and anxiously awaiting her arrival!
