Yesterday was a glorious day! We received our approval from the last set of fingerprints we needed for the USCIS and that completes ALL our paperwork! From the start of our homestudy process until now it took about 5 months - I think that is average, but it feels like forever! References, doctor visits, bloodwork, local police clearances, state clearances, nation clearances, paperwork, paperwork, more paperwork, notarizing, notarizing, notarizing, adoption classes, social worker visits...all done! Now WACAP has all they need, we are "official" and will be put on the waiting list for a referral! Now we WAIT...... it feels good to be at least here though. As Joseph said yesterday, "we have been warming up this whole year, now we are finally in the game!"
Spoke to our liaison at WACAP yesterday and she is so excited and encouraging. We will talk with her next week about now what to expect, where we are on the waiting list, etc...
The past months of waiting for all the paperwork to be completed has been good though... we had an amazing garage sale that so many donated to and helped with, applied for a ton of grants to help with the cost (which we are still waiting to hear from), saved, saved and are continuing to save all we can. My prayers have been focused on trusting in our Lord's perfect timing and prayers for the little girl we are yet to have join our family. Praying everyday for her safety, emotional well-being, health, God's protection over her and for her to experience God's love and presence everyday.
The kids are excited - we celebrated with a dinner to Chick-fil-A last night! :) This time has been a great time for our family, drawing closer and talking about orphans and the needs for children to have forever families. Now to continue to wait, pray for the monies we still need the Lord to provide, and rejoice that we are one step closer!!!!
"I would have despaired unless I HAD BELIEVED that I would see the GOODNESS OF THE LORD in the land of the living. WAIT for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, WAIT for the Lord. " Psalm 27:13-14
It has been a long journey over the past 5 years of prayer and waiting upon the Lord in the passion He has put upon our hearts to adopt. As many of you know, after 3.5 years of desiring to adopt from Ethiopia the Lord redirected our steps and our hearts to India. To help others know more of our story of adopting we posted some of the process we have been through these past years and the process we are in now...hope you enjoy and this journey brings all glory to our God!
"And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8

Cried when I read this. I am so happy for your family and excited to see the little one that the Lord has already decided to place in your family. Orphans and adoption are two of my passions and I thank God when another family catches that vision.
